PhobiasA phobia isn’t something you have, you can’t put it in your pocket for instance, it’s something you DO. It’s a learned response to a trigger, or stimulus. It’s when your emotions, your feelings are hijacked by fear, even though logically this may seem inappropriate. It’s appropriate to be frightened of fast cars or politicians (truly dangerous stuff) but not so of spiders or worms – yet slithery, creepy, flying things often have the power to provoke extreme responses. Phobias come in all shapes and sizes. For some it’s simple, a fear of spiders, snakes, heights, a specific thing, usually triggered by a specific event in the past. This original event may be remembered or forgotten. For others it’s more complex, a fear of flying, or water, of talking to members of the opposite sex, separation anxiety - a whole collection of fears. Most cases of simple phobia respond extremely quickly, often in one session, to an NLP technique combining regression and disassociation from the fear, called the Fast Phobia Cure. Tapping/EFT helps to give control over any future anxiety. More complex phobia may require further investigation to unwind the pattern, discover the specific triggers and reprogramme more beneficial responses. 01273 383899
